Maggie’s Grand Canyon Bucket List Challenge

Support Maggie’s Grand Canyon Bucket List Rim to Rim to Rim Challenge.

The photo in our banner which was taken by Maggie herself, are her feet in the Colorado River at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It was taken after hiking down the South Kaibab Trail to the Phantom Ranch Campground with her family on August 19, 2014.

Maggie was a healthy, active, and adventurous teenager who had hopes and dreams for exploration. But cancer struck suddenly, leading to harsh chemotherapy treatments and multiple surgeries that were ultimately ineffective. Maggie died shortly after her 17th birthday. We miss her greatly.

Maggie wrote a bucket list. Shortly after her passing we found this list in a notebook in her bedroom. While it’s tragic she’ll never get to experience everything she wanted to in life, we are determined to fulfill her bucket list in honor of her. Maggie’s list was like her spirit — courageous and compassionate.

Maggie’s dream was to go back and hike the Grand Canyon (again).

We will be hiking the Canyon rim to rim to rim almost 7 years to the day Maggie did. The plan is to hike down the South Kaibab trail, cross the Colorado River, stay overnight at Bright Angel Campground, hike up the North Kaibab trail, and set up camp for the night on the North Rim. In the morning, we’ll turn around, hike back down the North Kaibab trail, stay another night at Bright Angel Campground, then make our way up the Bright Angel Trail, following Maggie’s footsteps from 2014 to complete our Rim to Rim Challenge.

That’s 50 miles in a few days! The goal is to raise $50,000.

Follow our journey on our social media and please support us as we fundraise to find cures for pediatric cancers and help families.
