How this one plays

Rows of coloured smiles fill the grid, and your job is to spot the matches and lift them out before the space runs out. The artwork is flat and easy to read, which makes it comfortable on a small screen while you are waiting for something else.

The first thing you notice is that no instructions are needed. One look at the grid of grinning faces and the goal explains itself, which is rarer than it sounds. Plenty of titles in the same corner open with three screens of tutorial; this one simply lets you act and learn from what happens next.

The flat linework helps in a practical way too. With no shading or gradients competing for attention, your eye finds a match faster and tires more slowly than it would against finely detailed pieces. Anyone playing on a small handset will feel that difference more than anyone else.
